The structure characteristics of Gear-worm Reducer
As a traditional transmission device, Gear-worm Reducer is internal worm and tooth shape is involute. Structural features:
The transmission ratio can be obtained, which is more compact than the staggered helical gear mechanism.
The two wheel meshing teeth are in line contact, and the bearing capacity of the gear is much higher than that of the staggered helical gear mechanism.
Worm drive is equivalent to screw drive, which is meshed with multiple teeth, so it has the characteristics of self-locking with stable transmission and low noise.
When the lead angle of worm is less than the equivalent friction angle between the meshing teeth, the mechanism has self-locking, which can realize reverse self-locking, that is, worm can only drive worm, but not worm. If the self-locking worm mechanism is used in its heavy machine, its reverse self-locking can play a safety protection role.
The transmission efficiency is low and the wear is serious. When worm gears are engaged, the relative sliding speed between the gears is large, so the friction loss is large and the efficiency is low. On the other hand, relative sliding speed is the most important factor for the tooth surface wear and serious heat. In order to heat and reduce wear, expensive materials with better friction reduction and wear resistance and good lubrication device are often used, so the cost is higher and the axial force of worm is larger.
