Mechanical lever-based double-gripper coil tong moves flexibly. It lifts the coil with balanced lifting force and has safe and reliable performance. Driven by the four-link mechanism, two pairs of grippers (the inner one and outer one) move in opposite direction at the identical speed to clamp the coil under the external clamping effect and internal expansion effect, thus just half of the clamping force is needed as compared with the design with one pair of grippers, as a result, the stress which may damage the coil is small. With the coil lifted, no relative sliding occurs between the gripper and coil, and the bottom surface of the coil can be kept absolutely horizontal. Because the tong lifts up and lowers down the coil with constant gravity center, it can protect the coil from deformation and prevent the coil edge end from damage. The tong is mainly used for handling various cold and hot rolled semi-finished coils or finished vertical coils in the steel plants.
